As we all know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so I’ve been on a quest to find the best breakfast in Frederick MD! I asked around, polled local Facebook groups, and personally visited plenty of restaurants to make sure you get the best recommendations.

From cozy bakeries to classic diners and charming cafes, there are a TON of amazing breakfasts waiting for you all over Frederick county!

If you’re craving breakfast, Frederick has literally every type of breakfast food imaginable, and a lot of brunch options, too!

I’ve organized this list in no particular order and included photos as well as breakfast serving times. 

1. Showroom

If you’re looking for breakfast in downtown Frederick MD, Showroom is a great choice. This stylish diner is considered by many locals to serve the best breakfast around. 

You’ll find all the standard breakfast fare here, but all served at incredibly high quality. I love their chicken & waffles, and people rave about their breakfast potatoes. They also have a pretty extensive brunch menu.

  • Sunday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 9:00 pm;
  • Friday – Saturday: 8:00 am – 10:00 pm

2. Mountain View Diner

If you’re looking for a classic diner that doesn’t belong to any chain, you should visit Mountain View Diner.

It’s a bit of a Frederick breakfast institution, serving huge portions at very reasonable prices. Their omelets and pancakes are just incredible. I have to pop in every time I’m in that area of Frederick.

  • Friday & Saturday: 6:00 am – 12:00 am;

3. Cafe Nola

Cafe Nola is known to serve fantastic breakfast food, and possibly the best coffee in Frederick. I love going here for the occasional hot latte and French toast as a treat on the weekends!

If you’re looking for the best breakfast in Downtown Frederick, Nola is definitely up there.

  • Monday & Sunday: 8:00 am – 12:00 am; 
  • Tuesday: 8:00 am – 3:00 pm; 
  • Wednesday – Saturday: 8:00 am – 1:00 am (Breakfast served all day)

4. Beans & Bagels

For a breakfast sandwich in Frederick, try Beans and Bagels. It’s the place to be if you love traditional sandwiches and espresso-style drinks.

I’ve found their breakfast sandwiches are always stuffed full and are supremely satisfying. The owner, Rich, is also incredibly welcoming and always makes you feel at home.

  • Saturday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; 
  • Sunday: 8:00 am – 3:00 pm

5. Silver Diner

Silver Diner in Buckeystown is another Frederick breakfast spot that comes highly recommended. Many locals have fallen in love with this restaurant.

This place has been around for a long time and always serves a great breakfast.

  • Monday – Thursday: 7:00 am – 11:00 pm; 
  • Friday & Saturday: 7:00 am – 1:00 am; 
  • Sunday: 7:00 am – 11:00 am (Breakfast/Brunch served all day)

6. Cafe Bueno

Cafe Bueno serves three signature Mexican breakfast dishes all day.

Many locals swear by the Huevos rancheros here. This includes two corn tortillas topped with spicy ranchero salsa, shredded cheese, and two over-medium eggs. So GOOD!

7. Airways Inn

Airways Inn is one of Frederick’s best kept secrets at the local airport. Here they’ve been serving hot breakfast to lucky Frederick locals for over 20 years. Their coffee and crab cakes are especially well-known. 

As it’s up at the airport, you have a great view of the runway as you eat your breakfast!

  • Monday – Friday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm; 
  • Saturday & Sunday: 7:30am to 11:30am

8. Bollinger’s Restaurant & BBQ

You’ll find a pretty wide selection of breakfast dishes at Bollinger’s Restaurant & BBQ. They’ve been around for over 60 years, so they know what they’re doing.

This place has a lovely family-style dining atmosphere complete with fireplace. It’s a really cozy place, and the prices are very reasonable. 

I recommend the omelettes here – they really hit the spot.

9. Delizia Cafe

For an Italian-style breakfast in Frederick, try Delizia Cafe. Their full breakfast combo comes with Italian sausages, scrambled eggs, crunchy potatoes, ham, cheese, salami, bacon, and an egg pastry wrap. ​

They always make you feel like you’re at home here, and they’re food is very authentic and good quality. As a proud Italian, I like to keep an eye on where to get the best Italian food in Frederick

10. Dempsey’s Grille

Dempsey’s Grille is a family-owned restaurant in Middletown that’s been going for nearly 20 years. 

Here you’ll find lots of choices for breakfast, like quiche, omelettes, and even decadent Belgian waffles. 

It’s a community staple in Middletown and well worth a visit.

11. El Rancho Restaurant

You’ll find El Rancho Restaurant in Walkersville. Here, they offer a bit of both worlds, serving both American and Mexican breakfasts all day.

12. Ibiza Cafe

If you’re looking for the best coffee in Frederick, look no further than Ibiza Cafe.

This place is renowned for serving the best cup of joe in the area. Their breakfasts are pretty great, too!

13. Masser Tollhouse Inn

For that classic diner experience with huge portions, Masser Toll House Inn fits the bill. 

They have all the classic diner fare here, including breakfast items served all day, sandwiches, burgers, and hearty dinners such as steak and seafood. ​

It’s quite the quaint, nostalgic place – like a diner from the 1950s. I love the cozy and homey atmosphere here. ​

14. Olde Town Tavern (Mt. Airy)

Old Town Tavern in Mt. Airy serves up a great breakfast near Frederick, MD. If you’re in the area, go and try their cheesy grits and eggs – so GOOD! They get a little busy but it’s well worth the wait.

15. Pumpernickel + Rye

Pumpernickel + Rye is a modern deli run by two sisters. They have a great breakfast menu with all the classics, as well as a few more modern dishes inspired by their travels.

  • Tuesday – Wednesday: 8:00 am – 4:00pm;
  • Thursday – Saturday: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm;
  • Sunday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

16. Rell’s Cafe

Rell’s Cafe is all about the American-style breakfast. They’ve got all the classics, including pancakes and eggs. They also sell beef sausage, turkey sausage, and turkey bacon which is quite unusual for an American diner in Frederick.

17. The Buzz Cafe

You’ll find The Buzz Cafe in Monrovia. Here, they have a great breakfast menu as well as fresh baked goods, and everything is prepared from scratch. 

I love the breakfast casserole here. It has gold potatoes, eggs, cream, cheeses, and various fillings depending on the day.

18. The Derby Restaurant

You’ll find The Derby Restaurant in New Market, and it’s the perfect spot for a hearty breakfast. They’ve got quite a diverse menu with all the breakfast classics, including generous breakfast platters. 

People love their Main Street Platter, which comes with two eggs, home fries, your choice of applewood smoked bacon, sausage, ham, plus toast.

19. The Palms Restaurant

The family-owned Palms Restaurant is found in Emmitsburg. Breakfast’s here are very reasonably priced and the service is great. It’s quite a popular spot amongst the locals.

20. Up On Market Bistro & Inn

If you’re looking for the best breakfast in Frederick MD Downtown, Up on Market Bistro & Inn is another great contender. 

This place is well known for its great food and atmosphere. They serve great breakfast everyday and brunch on the weekends.

  • Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (Brunch)
